Public Works and Utility Services

Garland residents enjoy the benefits of some of the most efficient Utility Services in the state.  The City owns its own electric utility.  Garland Power & Light is the third largest utility in the state, serving more than 68,000 customers.

Water and Wastewater Treatment Services are also owned and operated by the City of Garland.  All of Garland's treated water is purchased from the North Texas Municipal Water District, which uses surface water from Lake Lavon, Lake Chapman, and Lake Texoma.

The City offers Solid Waste and Recycling Services to meet both residential and commercial needs.

Meanwhile, the Customer Service department handles the billing for all these utilities, as well as setting up service for new customers.
