The City of Garland has initiated a new strategy for all of its neighborhoods. This innovative effort emphasizes partnerships between the City, residents, businesses, non-profit organizations, schools, and various community groups like the faith community and volunteer services. This strategy aims to stabilize and improve neighborhoods, reinforce a sense of community in these areas, and empower and enable neighbors to create positive change in their communities.

Neighborhood Program Areas - The Strategy for Vital Neighborhoods is for all of Garland’s neighborhoods. A part of the Strategy is to focus on areas of the city to address neighborhood specific issues, build neighborhood management capacity, and develop a greater sense of community. Garland Neighborhood Management Academy - The Garland Neighborhood Management Academy (GNMA) is a series of educational classes on a variety of topics important to neighborhood vitality. The classes serve to increase awareness of city services and programs, provide leadership training, strengthen communications, and increase knowledge of the basic tools that enhance the vitality of our community.
Neighborhood Strategy Library - This online library contains recent media publications, presentations, and neighborhood resources. It also contains articles and websites that may be of interest to neighbors and neighborhood organizations.
Neighborhood Summit - As Garland approaches buildout, ensuring the health and sustainability of neighborhoods is a high priority. What all healthy neighborhoods have in common are residents who connect through shared commitment and responsibility. The Summit offers workshops on topics to guide neighbors in managing change, developing neighborhood improvement projects, and understanding the language of community development.
