Nuisance animals such as feral cats or wildlife should be reported to Garland Animal Services as soon as reasonably possible. An Animal Services Officer will respond, evaluate, and attempt to mitigate the nuisance situation. Some nuisance animals such as feral cats or small wildlife are best caught using a live trap. Citizens may borrow live traps from Garland Animal Services. A small, fully refundable deposit ($25.00 for small traps, $50.00 for larger traps) is required and citizens should always call ahead to ensure trap availability as the number of traps is limited.
When animals are caught in a live trap they may be brought to the Garland Animal Shelter. Shelter Attendants will remove the animal from the trap and will provide care and treatment if necessary. Depending on the animal and the nuisance caused, Shelter Attendants will determine the best destination of the trapped animal. Citizens who are unable to transport trapped animals to the Animal Shelter may contact Garland Animal Services for assistance.
