Garland, Texas – On Friday, August 22, 2008 at 5 p.m., all power to Garland City Hall will be turned off to facilitate a power system upgrade for the building.  During this outage, the City’s website and government access cable channel (Time Warner Channel 16 and Verizon FIOS Channel 44) will be unavailable.  Telephone lines to the following City facilities will also be affected:
 
·        Audubon Recreation Center
·        Surf N Swim
·        Police Boxing Gym
·        Senior Activity Center
·        Charles M. Hinton, Jr. Landfill
·        Parks and Recreation Administration
 
Website and telephone services are expected to be restored by midnight on Saturday, August 23.    The government access channel should resume programming on Monday, August 25.
 
On Friday, August 29, 2008 at 5 p.m., most City Government telephone numbers will be temporarily out of service.  Telephone service will be restored by 10 a.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2008. 
 
The following City Departments will NOT be affected by this outage:
 
·        911 and Police Non-Emergency lines – 972-485-4840
·        Police Department and Municipal Court ending in 1600, 4800, 7300, and 7400 series numbers.
·        Water Operations and City After-Hours Dispatch – 972-205-3210
