Garland Code Director Elected Vice President of State Organization



Garland, Texas – October 23, 2008 -- Garland Code Compliance Director, Steve Killen, was elected vice president of the Texas Environmental Health Association (TEHA), the largest environmental health association within the United States.
 
TEHA was founded in 1956.  It is a statewide, non-profit professional and educational organization for people who work to abate environmental hazards for the betterment of human health and well-being. The association establishes a common meeting ground for professionals involved in the broad field of environmental health. The more than 1,400 members of TEHA include employees in federal, state and municipal governments and personnel from industry and educational institutions.
 
Killen has served Garland in the Code Compliance Department since April, 2004. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from Tarleton State University and his Masters of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from Texas A & M University-Commerce.  Mr. Killen is licensed as a Professional Registered Sanitarian and Texas Code Enforcement Officer.  Additionally, Mr. Killen has been an Instructor at Eastfield College since 2001.
